This week and Doxorubicin

Thank you for your prayers! Catherine managed to get through her tummy bug without a temperature which means we were able to stay at home. She was also better the following day and had enough neutrophils so we were able to go to the pantomime after all! We went to see Peter Pan and Catherine loved it. Today, all she has spoken about is Peter Pan and whether we can see it again. She demanded, and has coloured in, pictures of Peter, Wendy and Hook off the internet. She has also dressed up as a fairy and been practicing flying!

We are going to hospital this week to begin the next phase of chemotherapy. This is a more difficult phase, and begins on Thursday with a general anaesthetic, bone marrow test and chemotherapy into the spinal fluid. I am also a bit nervous about Friday because she will be at hospital again to receive two chemotherapy drugs: Vincristine, which she has had before, and Doxorubicin.

I am a bit nervous about Doxorubicin as it has some scarier side effects: weakening of the heart muscle and there is a small risk of a second kind of leukaemia. Please can I ask for your prayers again, to ensure nothing happens to her heart and that she does not get another form of leukaemia. Also please pray that the side effects are minimal during this phase and also that she does not get an infection.

Thank you for your prayers concerning chicken pox a few weeks ago. I am pleased to confirm that Catherine did not get the chicken pox infection which can be difficult for children who do not have much of an immune system.

It has been really good being on a less intense chemotherapy regime, but we know the next set of chemicals can be problematic.

I will be on high alert praying for Catherine over the next few days. "Decree a matter and it will be established". We decree and declare life, health, healing and protection for Catherine in Jesus name.

When I was very ill, and at times fighting for my life a couple of years ago, God taught me to pray and declare the healing scriptures; a friend would read these over me every day when I was too ill to do it for myself. I believe I am alive today because of this. I will be doing this for Catherine. If you want to do it yourselves you can download them from Joyce Meyer Ministries; google in "healing scriptures" and just print. The whole set takes one hour but you can do a few at a time when you are too tired to do the whole lot. Insert Catherine's name to make them personal to her, they are God's promises to her.

You can also buy a nutritional health powder called "Greens for Life" from the site of the same name. It supports the immune system and builds blood.

Father God we thank you that "You are the Lord that healeth" Catherine, (Ex 15:26) and "By His wounds Catherine is healed." (Is 53:5). Thank you Lord that Catherine "dwells in the shelter of the Most High and rests in the shadow of the Almighty." Catherine says of the Lord "He is my refuge and fortress, my God in whom I trust"...."Because Catherine loves me," says the Lord, "I will rescue her; I will protect her for she acknowledges my name. She will call upon me and I will answer her; I will be with her in trouble, I will deliver her and honour her. With long life will I satisfy her and show her my salvation." In Jesus name. (Ps 91). Declare this whole chapter over Catherine every day, it is very powerful. May you all feel His loving arms around you at this time. God bless you.
